Note 1 - Bittersweet and lush keyboard triggered soundscapes with a pulsating melancholic vibe contemplating our not very specific place in an immensely beautiful Universe which at the same Time is a such a dangerous place ( ask any dinosaur ).
Note 2 - All keyboard is the CA 2600, inspired by and modeled to the classic ARP 2600 >

Note 3 - Headphones recommended.
You Are Here was / is inspired by Nikita Shtarkman – MFA Design and Technology student at Parsons and former Johns Hopkins computer science student - and astrophysicist Dr. Brice Ménard .
For the first time in scientific history they created a map ( in fact a "slice"of the Universe -
mapoftheuniverse.net ) depicting the actual position and real colours of 200,000 galaxies, going back to ( in their own words ) the “edge of what can be seen” (1*) - which of course is the actual photograph of the first flash of light emitted soon after the big bang, some 13.7 billion years ago. The map was created from astronomical data taken over a period of 15 years by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (2*), New Mexico ( USA ).
At the very bottom of the map (
mapoftheuniverse.net ) it's you and me, its us : The Milky Way Galaxy ( You Are Here ). From there on to the actual edge of the observable Universe each dot represents a galaxy... In this map alone already 200,000... The full map of course is actually a sphere > this map shows a thin slice about 10 degrees wide. And the colours they are changing. Two sequences shift from blue to red : one for "nearby" galaxies ( the lower half of the map ) and one for quasars (3*) much farther away ( the upper half the map). As the Universe expands so stretches the wavelength of light. The farther an object the redder it will appear to us mortals. This happens twice on the map - as we travel beyond redshifted elliptical galaxies they become much harder to see but we can now detect quasars, much brighter here and... blue again.
(1*) The edge of the observable Universe.
(2*) The Sloan Digital Sky Survey is based at Apache Point Observatory in New Mexico, United States. Millions of galaxies have been observed over the years , the map is a fraction of that data.
(3*)A quasar is an extremely luminous and supermassive black hole feeding on gas at the center of a more DISTANT galaxy.
All this is neatly explained by means of an interactive website and several ( some of which free ) downloads : you must check this out ( you probably already have ) >
